Name still secret
Interim name suppression continues for a man from a prominent Christchurch family who is facing drugs and firearms charges. Police allege the man unlawfully had two pistols, a rifle and ammunition. He is also charged with cultivating and selling cannabis and possessing methamphetamine and pipes. The charges were laid after the police raided the Ellesmere property on January 26. In the Christchurch District Court on yesterday, defence counsel Jonathan Eaton QC asked for name suppression to be continued. Judge Tony Couch remanded the man until to March 7.
