Why are rugby players a ‘‘big issue’’ in our news? The Press strives to convey information, entertainment and opinion covering a wide range of topics. From time to time, this involves rugby players.

I believe there’s a good reason for this: Whether you agree or disagree, rugby and the All Blacks are part of New Zealand culture.

We are a small nation that thrives on the success of our national rugby team and if a highprofile past member of this team helped with the catastrophic and tragic fires in the Port Hills, is it so wrong to highlight this fact?

I think not. It’s not fake news, it’s New Zealand news.
