Green MP’s bill aims to fix gap in gender pay data
Increasing the amount of data about the gender pay gap would help to fix the current imbalance in New Zealand, Green Party MP Jan Logie says. Logie’s Equal Pay Amendment Bill, drawn from the members’ ballot yesterday, would require all employers to provide aggregated information to MBIE about how much men and women are paid for doing the same job. “Women should be paid what they’re worth and we have a responsibility to make sure they are,’’ Logie said.
