Horncastle showdown

It’s all on for Christchurch. Prowrestling fans in the Garden City have been given something to look forward to, with a WWE showdown scheduled for later this year. On the back of its first New Zealand event in five years at Auckland’s Vector Arena, WWE has announced a 2017 return to Christchurch, its first since 2008. WWE star Sheamus will be back, alongside a long list of prowrestling celebrities, including women’s champion Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Enzo and Big Cass, Tag Team Champions Gallows & Anderson, Braun Strowman, The New Day and Finn Balor will also be making the trip for the WWE Live event on September 13 at Horncastle Arena. Promoter Paul Dainty is promising ‘‘an action-filled night that will have young and old on their feet roaring in excitement’’. ‘‘This onenight-only show is the only stop in New Zealand in 2017, so it is not to be missed.’’ A ticket pre-sale is now under way, with general release tickets going on sale from 10am on Monday at Ticketek.
