‘Medical event’ crash

A man is in a critical condition in Christchurch after suffering a ‘‘medical event’’ while driving. Police were called yesterday to a single-car crash on Ferry Rd. A St John spokesman said they arrived on scene just after 10.30am where a car had hit a brick wall near a block of shops. The spokesman said a man of ‘‘60ish’’ was in a critical condition and had been taken to Christchurch Hospital after CPR was performed on him. Two ambulances and a first responder attended the incident. A police spokeswoman said a medical event was suspected.
