Returned to jail

-

A man on life parole for murdering an 11-year-old boy has been sent back to jail after cutting off his electronic bracelet and running off. Robin James Pitney, 40, was 15 when he attacked Leif Wulff in Caroline Bay, Timaru in 1991. He stabbed the boy in the back, front, and hands. Leif died on the beachfront. Pitney was on parole at Christchurch’s Odyssey House. He cut off his tag and ran away after a bad drug test. In the Christchurch District Court yesterday, Pitney pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching his special release conditions. Judge Jane Farish sentenced him to two months’ prison. Judge Farish said it would be up to the Parole Board to set a new release date for him.
