Delaney’s Magic Lightbox
Fresh from his recent European tour success, Delaney Davidson will bring his late-night Magic

Houstoun takes on Bach
Acclaimed New Zealand pianist Michael Houstoun will perform all of J S Bach’s 48 Preludes and Fugues during two concerts this weekend. Billed as ‘‘epic, once-ina-lifetime’’ events, The 48 concerts will be held at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday in The Arts Centre’s recently refurbished Great Hall. ‘‘The 48 are masterpieces that seldom get an airing outside teaching studios,’’ says Houstoun. ‘‘Yet they cover an enormous range of moods from the domestic to the grandiose and are revered by many, if not all, the great composers.’’ Tickets are available from eventfinda.co.nz.

Scottish singer-songwriter Robin Laing will perform his whiskyinfused music at Spreydon’s Irish Society Hall on Sunday evening. Acclaimed Korean pianist Joyce Yang will join the NZSO for a concert at Horncastle Arena on Tuesday night. She will perform the famously difficult Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 3 in D minor, while the orchestra, under the baton of Edo de Waart, will also perform the Russian composer’s Vocalise and Symphonic Dances at the 7pm concert.
