Bid to bring Toni home

-

The family of a ‘‘happy, beautiful’’ woman who died in a tragic accident in Britain want to bring her home.

Dargaville woman Toni Kelly died in London on life support after sustaining injuries from an accident. It is understood she was in Britain as part of a teaching programme.

Friends believe she suffered a brain injury after falling out a window, though that has not been confirmed by family or authorities in Britain.

A friend who set up a Givealittle page ‘‘Bring our Toni home’’ said Kelly’s organs had been donated to help save other lives.

Money raised from the page would be used to bring Kelly and her family home from Britain, the friend said.

More than $31,000 had been raised as of 6.30am yesterday.

Sister Stacey Kelly posted her thanks on Facebook: ‘‘I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endless support so far.

‘‘Also a huge thank you to the girls who thought of and created this beautiful page for our baby girl.

‘‘We are completely lost for words and can’t wait to be home.’’

Aunt Sharon Kelly said on Facebook Kelly’s parents ‘‘are devastated beyond words’’.

‘‘My Niece sadly past away a awful accident.. Will be sadly missed by all .... Toni she was a happy sweet caring young lady full of life...’’

Two agencies that place teachers from Australia and New Zealand in jobs in Britain, Vibe and ANZUK (Australia New Zealand UK), have also started fundraising to help the Kelly family.

Friends described Kelly as beautiful and bubbly. She was a ‘‘lovely girl, friendly, full of life and a joy to be around’’, Richard Chan wrote on the Givealittle page.
