Should you change ange your skincare routineout­ine for summer?

One of the bestest things about spring iss the big wardrobe swap.p. Out go the winter woolliess and boots (well, not all off them – it’s still a New Zealandlan­d summer, after all) and inn come the summer dresseses and sandals.

But most of us don’t give much thought to updating our skincare routines.es. Do those products need a seasonalal shift as well?

The answer, as with many beauty questions, is complicate­d.

“It’s always going to come down to personal skin type,” says Hayley Gardiner, education manager for Estee Lauder and Tom Ford Beauty.

In other words, if you’re noticing changes in your skin once the weather warms up, then it’s time to reassess what you’re using on it.

Here are some products you might want to switch up:

CLEANSERS

All that summer heat, sweat and grime can lead tto clogged pores and a build-up oof dead skin cells. The solution? SSwap out those creamy cleansers for a foaming one, especially if oily skin is an issue, and be sure to add regular exfoliatio­n to youryou routine. “You’ll often noticenot a lack of radiance or that youryo skin just doesn’t look as bright,br so removing those top layers is always a good idea,” says Clinique education manager Tracey Pedersen.Pe

MOISTURISE­RS

Been slapping on the heavy creams all winter? It’s time to ease up.

Pedersen says gel moisturise­rs tend to be a better option in the heat as they provide plenty of hydration but without the greasy feeling that can come with oils or creams.
