Pedal Pusher set for summer of fun

- ❚ The Pedal Pusher is located at 284 Lincoln Rd, Addington, and at 55 Faringdon Blvd, Rolleston. For bookings or to find out more, phone 03 335 0095 for Addington or 03 260 0866 for Rolleston, or visit them online at thepedalpusher.co.nz.

The festive season has arrived and with it a switch to high gear for The Pedal Pusher, where a new menu and endless supply of cold drinks at its Addington and Rolleston restaurants has group bookings filling dates like a celebratory rush to Christmas.

Special breakfasts, lunches and evening get-togethers can be arranged for parties of up to 50 at either location.

It is less than a year since The Pedal Pusher extended its lipsmacking formula of smoked meats, salads and bar-side bites to a new eatery in the Faringdon subdivision, and like the Lincoln Rd original, the Rolleston branch is a bastion of delicious, feel-good foods served in anachronistic cycle-themed surrounds.

But where Addington is home to business lunches, after-work drinks and pre-theatre meals, Rolleston’s larger setting and cafe vibe reflects the flavour of its suburban devotees.

Here, in the expansiveness of Faringdon, fresh coffee, courtyard dining and big-screen sports are backstopped by a large bar where throngs of guests can attend a function without the restaurant closing.

Either site can host sit-down meals, too, with exclusive use of the restaurants available for larger events. Early openings can be arranged for group breakfasts.

Menus are largely seasonal and focus on the fresh and local rather than the wintry fare of a northern hemisphere Christmas.

The Pedal Pusher owner Madlen Shaw says the lamb salad is already a favourite of the new menu, which launched a fortnight ago.

Made with slow-cooked lamb shoulder, olives, tomato, cucumber, feta and a mint yoghurt dressing served over toasted flat bread, the salad is ‘‘absolutely delicious’’, Shaw says.

There is also a grill menu, dessert cocktails, pub classics, kids’ meals and an enticing array of small plates to choose from, in what is a diverse and colourful selection of foods.

‘‘If people are in a group and are concerned they might not have at time, they can ring ahead and preorder,’’ Shaw says. ‘‘That way they don’t have to wait.’’

Most offerings from The Pedal Pusher are also available through the UberEATS home delivery service. Deliveries cost just $6.99, with orders taken through the freeto-download UberEATS app.

Gift vouchers can be bought online at The Pedal Pusher website.
