Charged with murder

-

Two people have been arrested and charged with murder after a twoyear investigation into the ‘‘unexplained’’ death of Nelson woman Tracey-Anne Harris.

The arrests come just after two years to the day that the 43-yearold’s body was found in her home in Marlowe St, Stoke, on February

11, 2016.

Police said shortly after that the circumstances surrounding her death remained ‘‘unexplained’’ .

Police said yesterday a 30-yearold woman, who was arrested in Rotorua, had been charged with Harris’ murder as well as supplying Class A and Class B drugs, and offering to supply Class A drugs.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Christchurch, has been charged with murder and supplying Class B drugs.

The woman is to appear in the Rotorua District Court today and the man will appear in the Nelson District Court on Monday.

Tasman District acting crime manager Detective Senior Sergeant Jacqui Corner said the arrests came as the result of a meticulous investigation by Nelson detectives.

‘‘This is a timely reminder that we are prepared and committed to continue and pursue criminal investigations long after an event in pursuit of the truth and to bring those who have no regard for the law to account,’’ she said.

‘‘It is virtually two years to the day since Ms Harris’ body was found.

‘‘Our staff have been extremely patient and professional in gathering sufficient evidence to bring this matter before the court.’’
