Small yardings supported sheep prices with store lambs up $5 at livestock sales at Coalgate last week.

Top store lambs made up to $103.

Prime lambs

Values: In the smallest yarding of prime lambs for many weeks, prices remained on par with recent sales. Tops made $145-$160, good $130-$145 and medium $115-$130.

Sales included: GP&KH Bell (Leeston) 201 lambs at $129-$138, Fitzallan (Southbridg­e) 132 lms at $128-$133, Nova Trust (Templeton) 38 lms at $102-$128, NJ Moorhead (Leeston) 34 lms at $128, LBJ Smith (Waiau) 30 lms at $106-$117, Florance (Waiau) 16 lms at $118, SA Rattray (Leeston) 17 lms at $128, A Freeman (Darfield) 13 lms at $121, S Hughes (Springston) 12 lms at $160-$161.

Prime ewes

Values: A small yarding of ewes met with similar demand. Tops made

$145-$170, good $130-$145, medium

$115-$130 and light $85-$100. Sales included: Colenso (Scargill)

38 ewes at $113-$145, Marble Point Station (Hanmer) 33 es at $153-$171, Annat (Sheffield) 30 es at $108-$125, M Redmond (Rakaia) 13 es at

Store sheep

Values: Store lambs were in short supply and met with solid demand. Prices lifted by up to $5 per head. Tops made $95-$103, good $85-$95 and light $65-$72.

Sales included: Florance Farms (Waiau) 191 lambs at $80-$103, JW Blaikie (Leeston) 19 lms at $75-$93.

Prime cattle

Values: . Steers made $2.86/kg$2.94, beef heifers $2.68-$2.73, dairy heifers $2 - $2.34, cows $1.74-$2.28 and bulls $2.60-$2.84.
