COALGATE STOCK SALE

Large ewes sold for $200-plus and peaked at $268 at livestock sales at Coalgate last week.

Lighter ewes were also in demand, making $100-plus. Top prime lambs made $140 to $155.

Prime lambs

Values: Lighter lambs sold well as traders looked to add more weight on them before processing. Tops made $140-$155, good $125-$140, medium $115-$125 and light $105-$115.

Values: Large ewes flew past

$200 to peak at $265 per head and light conditioned ewes still met with good demand.

Prime cattle

Values: Prime steers and heifers were on par with the last few weeks. Steers made $2.70/kg-$2.94, beef heifers $2.72-$2.92, dairy heifers $1.60-$2.66, cows $1.74-$2.20 and bulls $2.30-$3.20.
