Rocky waters for coalition

Looks like the coalition government’s honeymoon is over. I wonder if there will be any divorces.

What is prestigious?

The Press (Mar 28) described a school as ‘‘prestigious’’. I admit to being bemused by this adjective in describing St Andrew’s College or any other school.

The incident, as described in The Press (Mar 28), illustrates a school that’s attitudes and practices are anything but ‘‘prestigious’’, according to the dictionary definition.

Rather, is the word used to represent a flight of fancy or a bias that may exist in some quarters?

What Russian spies?

I was pleased to learn that PM Jacinda Ardern is keeping a cool head and not falling for Theresa May’s hysterical Russian ‘spies’ story. Like 160 other countries in the world the Government should ask Britain for solid evidence ‘‘beyond reasonable doubt’’, which so far is completely lacking.

Well done to the PM

Congratulations to Jacinda Ardern for demonstrating to the world NZ’s practical common sense, and refusal to be stampeded into the group delusions of grandiose and belligerent nations which depend on their arms industries for their illusory financial success.
