Electoral Commission has a raft of changes: new report

-

The Electoral Commission has released their report into the 2017 election, along with several recommendations for changes. They note turnout was up at 79.8 per cent, the highest rate since 2005, and 52,000 more people under the age of 30 voted than did in 2014. They recommend a raft of small changes, including a way to turn some special votes into regular votes, allowing voters to switch between the Ma¯ori roll and general roll at any time, and allowing enrolments on election day.
