Wenger departs

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will leave the club at the end of the season. The Frenchman has said in a statement issued by the Premier League club on Friday that the time is right. Wenger arrived at the club in 1996, has won three league titles in the 22 years. Wenger signed a fresh twoyear contract extension last summer and while there was speculation he would leave halfway though that deal, few thought confirmation of that would arrive before the conclusion of the current campaign. Arsenal’s Europa League semi-final against Atle´tico Madrid is still to come. English news sites described Wenger as leaving on a high note.
