Boner cows past their productive best copped the worst of easing prices for prime cattle at livestock sales at Coalgate last week.

Tightening space at meat processors resulted in lower prices across the classes with cows making $1.95/kg-$2.10.

Prime lamb prices were firm for better types wth tops at $150-$167 and store lambs had a good sale, peaking at $126.

Values: Tops made $150-$167, good $135-$145 and medium

$125-$135.

Values: Prices were steady with few large ewes offered to push prices above $200. Tops made

Values: Black face cross lambs from Rakaia Gorge sold well in a yarding of lighter lambs. Tops made

Values: A large yarding of boner cows took the biggest hit from tightening processing space. Steers made $2.64/kg-$2.88, beef heifers

$2.53-$2.76, dairy heifers $1.45-$1.65, cows $1.95-$2.10 and bulls

$2.50-$2.77.
