Bettor Joy, Elle Mac big clash

-

Cran Dalgety hopes drawing the ace will be enough to help Bettor Joy get another one over her arch rival Elle Mac at Addington on Friday night.

The pair will tackle the Group

1 $140,000 Nevele R Fillies Series Final and are the clear bookie favourites as the only two with single-figure quotes.

Having clashed in four fillies features already this season, Bettor Joy has claimed victory in the Ladyship Stakes and Sales Series Final while Elle Mac has won the Sires Stakes and Great Northern Oaks.

Both have won more than

$185,000 in New Zealand as threeyear-olds with Elle Mac leading Bettor Joy by about $1800.

Although Dalgety was hoping to secure Bettor Joy for a bit less than the $80,000 he paid for her at the 2016 Premier sale, he is happy that the qualities which made the daughter of Joyfulbelle attractive to him then have borne fruit.

‘‘I was attracted to her bloodlines, it has been a good fillies family, and she had the laid-back Bettors Delight attitude.

‘‘She’s still got it, no stress, a general casual way of doing things, that’s her most important attribute.’’

Dalgety hopes to secure his second Nevele R Final and match the record of his father Jim.

‘‘Drawing one was a very good start, she’s as fit and as healthy as she’s been, I’m very bullish about her prospects,’’ he said.

Surprisingly, her driver Dexter Dunn is chasing his first Nevele R. ‘‘Dexter will probably take luck out of it and she is capable of leading all the way,’’ Dalgety added.

Mark Purdon, co-trainer of Elle Mac with Natalie Rasmussen, is happy with their filly’s draw of five. He also considers the place to be is in front but knows it is never that easy. ‘‘She’s clearly the best of our three and has got a good draw. She’s had a couple of trials and gone well in them both.’’
