Christchurch stock sales
North Canterbury ram lambs broke through the $200 mark for the first time this season at livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week. The Hawarden lambs made $203-$204, while good lambs made $180-$190.
A record was set for the top prime ewe price with three Dunsandel ewes making $286. Heavy prime ewes reached
$190-$230 in a strong market. The store lamb market lifted
$4-$5 in a light yarding.
Prime lambs
Values: Heavy lambs $200-$204, good $180-$190, medium $150-$170 and lighter $130-$150.

Values: A small yarding of store lambs met with strong demand from Canterbury/Mid Canterbury buyers with $4-$5 lift again in value.

Prime cattle
Values: In a medium yarding well finished steers sold at similar values to last week. Cattle that were not in prime condition eased slightly, but cows improved by up to 10 cents a kilogram.
