Tuivasa-Sheck: No need to panic

- Marvin France

Captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is adamant the Warriors will not go into their shells in the final stretch of the season as they fight to get their NRL campaign back on track.

The Warriors are set to slip to seventh by the end of the round – and could fall as low as eighth depending on the Broncos-Titans result – following Friday night’s embarrassing 36-4 defeat to an under-strength Panthers side in Sydney. While they are only two points outside the top four, the heavy nature of the defeat has raised doubts over the Auckland club’s ability to foot it with the competition heavyweights heading into what could be a season-defining period.

The Warriors face a daunting month with three of their next four games against the Broncos (away), Storm (home) and Dragons (away).

But there was no sense of panic from Tuivasa-Sheck, who was relishing the chance to prove that they are worthy of a place in the finals.

‘‘I still have a lot of confidence in this side,’’ the skipper said.

‘‘These are the type of games that are going to come now.

‘‘So we need to go back and focus on the next part of the competition because these are the business rounds.

The Warriors have proven they can quickly recover from big defeats – Friday’s result was the first time they had suffered back-to-back losses this season.

But they have some serious soul searching to do ahead of the Broncos clash away on Sunday.
