The situation

A west to southwest flow covers New Zealand as a ridge spreads onto the country from the west. A front makes its way up the South Island from this afternoon. The disturbed southwesterly flow over the country should ease tomorrow, as the ridge of high pressure builds over New Zealand from the west.
