Political priorities are wrong

-

Political parties at the last election tried to outbid each other in the number of extra police they would recruit. Most promises were for more than 1000 additional police to the 11,000-12,000 we currently have. Yet when it comes to nurses all the government can offer is an additional 500 nurses to the current 30,000 or so. It seems that getting tough on crime is a better vote catcher than getting unwell citizens back to work after a timely operation.
