Busy Bumbles

-

Busy Bumbles is an innovative, fun, family-centric supplier of before and after school programmes and holiday programmes based in Selwyn.

Its purpose is to create a place of security, happiness and trust where parents can send the most important thing in their lives; their children. Busy Bumbles’ programmes contribute towards a child’s educational and personal development. It has grown with the community and is an integral part of the local fabric of the area with 10 Selwyn venues.

Founder Rebecca Scott, a working mother of two children, recognised a need for quality after-school care to enable parents to return to fulltime work happy with the care their child was receiving. Her goal is to eliminate the feeling of guilt parents have when leaving their child in care. She achieves this by offering a place children love.

Rebecca’s expertise and background as a teacher and her post-graduate management qualification equipped her to develop a service that creates a warm, safe, friendly environment for children to strive in. The team received national recognition as the Best New OSCAR Programme NZ 2011 (Out of School Care and Recreation). The Ministry of Social Development award is reassurance that outstanding policies and systems are in place and have been checked by an external body. It also won the 2011 Best New Programme in Canterbury award and the 2012 Most Outstanding OSCAR Programme in Canterbury. It is an important, growing member of the Selwyn community and Rebecca plans to double the number of venues.
