Smart Membrane Solutions is a membrane filtration specialist in the dairy industry. A recent market insights analysis has defined its core purpose to ‘‘Put Process Managers at Ease’’.

This includes products and services which improve safety, plant reliability, product losses andefficiency; provide purposedesigned equipment, identify plant optimisation initiatives, and training for plant and technical staff. Its new market space is now operating as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM);it has taken its 18 years of knowledge and applied systems to design and build its own complete membrane plants. After growing in the OEM Market in NZ in 2017, it expanded into Australia in 2018. A key challenge was resourcing to keep up with demand. This included people, subcontractors, finance systems, project and contractual agreements and project management systems. It has employed experienced, skilled personal and the team has grown from two people in 2016 to eight in 2018. Its business ethos of having excellent systems has enabled it to manage the detail of each project to be delivered on time, to specification and within budget. Revenue growth year on year allowed it to continue to expand its products, services and team. It is developing new technology products which will be a game changer. It secured a Fast100 Callaghan Innovation Grant for one of these. It is a purpose-driven organisation withintegrity, giving staff a sense of belonging and contribution. Its head office is in Izone Rolleston, with an office in Hamilton’s Waikato Innovation Park.
