Christchurch City Mission
The Christchurch City Mission is an organisation grounded in the lives of the people it serves. It acts as a conduit in the community; connecting the dots, bringing together organisations, families and individuals. It works to find ways for its community to help each other, and to build connectedness throughout all corners of the region.
People can see the impact the City Mission has in the community, all they have to do is take a look through the doors. On any one day they will see someone bravely taking their next step on their journey to being housed, or crossing another day off the calendar to mark their abstinence from substance use, or growing in confidence each time they visit the day programme, or who finding a sense of purpose through meaningful volunteer work.
People can see the impact that working together has on the community as organisations like My Food Bag, Kelloggs, Hellers and Fresh Choice Central City provide the City Mission Foodbank with essential provisions used in food parcels; helping real people in real need.
The Christchurch City Mission defines success not solely by the number of people served, food parcels handed out, bed nights in its shelters. This isn’t just success; this shows the need and that isn’t the full story.
Instead, the City Mission works to define success through the connections made in people’s lives, the opportunities that new partnerships create, the selfworth restored to someone’s life, and the satisfaction and pride gained in helping others.
You can’t put a value on success found in connection, community and collaboration; that success is precious and priceless.
