Kilmarnock Enterprises

-

Kilmarnock Enterprises is changing attitudes towards intellectual disability through education, employment and opportunity, empowering people to lead purposeful and dignified lives. Kilmarnock Enterprises is committed to providing the best possible workplace for its team of over 85; everything it does supports their development, happiness, and health and it has embarked on a mission to dramatically improve their health and wellness. People with intellectual disabilities are traditionally disproportionately represented in statistics around poor health and education. The new Health and Wellness Programme, Flourish the Kilmarnock Way, sets out to transform this for the team, addressing core areas of wellness; nutrition, fitness, mental health, and learning in a full calendar of events. Kilmarnock Enterprises believes everybody should be supported to bring their full self to work knowing that they will be understood, respected, valued. This is reinforced throughout the organisation and in the way it interacts as a team every day. The new Kilmarnock Academy provides individualised, tailored, hands-on training and education focused on literacy, numeracy, communication and workplace skills in a supportive environment. The Academy has already helped 15 employees, who had left school with no qualifications, to gain NZQA qualifications. Another 10 students are on the course. It is its mission that drives and informs its commercial operations as a reputable contract manufacturer. Customers such as Fonterra, Air NZ, and Gough Group value its recycling, refurbishing, collating, shrink-wrapping, assembly, food packing and woodworking services. It is well known for its quality, attention to detail, and commitment to customers. It believes in a world that values diversity, where nobody has to stand on the fringes of society, where we’re all included and appreciated, no matter our differences.
