Christchurch Airport
Christchurch Airport’s purpose is to unequivocally champion the South Island and its mission is to be a Champion Airport, recognised at home and abroad as an engine room for the prosperity of Christchurch, the South Island and New Zealand.
The airport has 10 commercial airlines operating
10,000-plus international and
60,000 domestic flights a year. It is the smallest city in the world to welcome a daily A380 and to have a scheduled service direct to mainland China.
This year it has achieved record passenger numbers, with December 2017 the busiest single month on record; followed by January 2018 setting a new alltime record for international passengers in a single month.
It was also the only New Zealand airport to win a category in the Skytrax World Airport Awards, being named by travellers as Best Regional Airport for Australia/Pacific.
Its purpose and mission will be achieved as a direct result of the efforts of its Champion Team and its ultimate goal is to give its people the best chance to stay and succeed in their roles and to play their part in contributing to the achievement of both.
Christchurch Airport is dedicated to three strategic pillars: building a stronger business, enhancing customer journeys and being great kaitiaki (guardians of safety, sustainability and security) and our core function as an international airport is to provide an environment that services the needs of airlines, passengers, government agencies, freight providers and Christchurch/South Island businesses.
Being great kaitiaki is its commitment to the protection and guardianship of its people and its environment.
It is dedicated to working with its stakeholders and campus community to achieve a safe, secure and sustainable environment for its passengers, visitors, staff and volunteers, the 7000 staff that work on its campus, and the near seven million passengers that come through its terminal each year.
