Teen stabbed in neck with scissors

A student was stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors at Southland Boys’ High School on Tuesday. Detective Sergeant Sean Cairns said a 14-year-old boy appeared in Invercargi­ll Youth Court yesterday, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded in custody. Emergency services were called to the school about 2pm and a 15-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The injuries were not life-threatenin­g and he was recovering well, Cairns said. Police inquiries were ongoing and there was no further informatio­n at this time.
