Adults responsible

-

R Lucas ponders when the Lime scooter company will do something to stop under-age scooter riders breaking the law. There is no law regarding the age at which these scooters can be ridden, only a condition written on the scooter itself. Irresponsible probably but no more irresponsible than the adults who provide the credit card facility so Lime’s conditions can be broken

On Sunday, driving along Colombo St towards Moorhouse Ave, we came over the Sydenham overbridge. Near the top was a male in his 30s but going down the other side was a young girl of about 12 and standing in front of her was a young child of 4 or 5. Breaking every condition of the scooters’ use - under 18, doubling, going downhill, no helmet.

Who is responsible for injury or worse? Ultimately the adult in charge.
