Rhinos starve after move

-

A plan to return black rhinoceroses to central Africa after nearly half a century has resulted in the deaths of four out of the six transported animals. Early tests on the carcasses suggest that the rhinos, which were flown to Chad from South Africa in May, died of starvation. Two bodies were discovered in Zakouma National Park this week, a fortnight after the first two deaths were recorded. The surviving animals will be moved to a fortified enclosure where they will be fed and monitored by a wildlife vet from the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
