Helmets

-

Nigel Ellis paints quite the bucolic picture when he writes about cycling to the shops with the wind in his hair.

But what nobody wants is to fall off, or be knocked off, their bike and hit the asphalt square on their head.

I have been knocked off my bike twice now (each time by a careless driver at fault), and everyday I thank goodness I was wearing a helmet because my trauma would’ve been that much more severe otherwise.

So whenever I see an e-scooter rider travelling at speed along the footpath, across driveway entrances and without a helmet on, I recoil in absolute horror.
