Plan for better health, naturally
Marshall’s Health & Natural Therapy, Christchurch’s home of good health advice, is moving up in the world. Or at least diagonally.
The New Brighton store known for its massive range of natural health products at hardto-beat prices has relocated from 110 Seaview Rd to 101 Seaview Rd – a short skip across the road that sees them now set up in the suburb’s former ANZ building.
Still there to help customers make sense of the vast selection are the store’s friendly natural health advisers and two medical herbalists, who are always happy to explain which products are most suitable for a person and their budget.
There is also a comprehensive herbal dispensary where the medical herbalists can custom-make products to suit your needs.
As well as this, the store has a large selection of practitioneronly products.
Private consultations are also available. These are ideal if you have a health challenge or are among the many people developing ‘‘health optimisation plans’’.
Marshall’s Health & Natural Therapy owner Julian Marshall says planning for better health by using quality natural products has become increasingly popular as more people realise that even small changes to nutrition and lifestyle can lead to big improvements in quality of life.
‘‘In natural medicine, if you suffer from a health condition we always look at why the condition has happened as well as how to best support the body’s natural recovery Julian says.
‘‘The body has an amazing ability to heal itself when given the right support.’’
He notes that prescription medications often only mask or ease symptoms while doing little to address the reasons for a problem.
process,’’
‘‘An example would be in cardiovascular disease when plaque has built up in the arteries. Plaque in the blood vessels can lead to higher blood pressure, and higher blood pressure makes it more likely some of this plaque will break off and cause a stroke.
‘‘The plaque can build up due to a lack of certain nutrients, including vitamins B12, B6 and folate. The reason for the lack of these nutrients could be a poor diet but is more likely because the body is not absorbing them efficiently.
‘‘It may be a case of needing to improve the digestive process as well as improve nutrition to speed up healing. We would also look at nutrients to naturally help the body dissolve the plaque.
‘‘We recognise that all diseases have a causative factor. Disease does not happen for no reason.’’
For people who have a particular health challenge, a private consultation is highly recommended.
After a consultation, people are provided with a simple-tofollow healing plan.
‘‘We can then work with you to support your recovery process,’’ Julian says.
‘‘We look forward to you in our new store.’’
