‘We’ve known girls for 130 years’

-

At Rangi Ruru, each girl is known as an individual and celebrated for her effort and achievement.

As one of New Zealand’s oldest and most successful schools, Rangi Ruru has established a proud tradition and heritage. In 2019, Rangi Ruru will be celebrating its

130th anniversary as it continues to build on the strong foundation created by the Gibson sisters back in 1889.

Rangi Ruru is now home to

660 girls from Year 7 to Year 13, including 138 boarders and 30 international students.

During the weekends, boarders can choose a number of things to do, including trips to the theatre, ski trips, adventure outings or competitive sporting pursuits.

They also have access to the library, fitness centre, gymnasium, swimming pool and other school facilities. The Rangi Ruru campus really is a home away from home for the girls to enjoy.

Finding their place in the world, being confident of that path with positivity and happiness

Our girls learn so much. Co-operation, respecting one another, responsibility, self-management skills and most importantly having a bit of fun in a safe, stable and supportive environment. Kyleigh Lyth Director of boarding, Rangi Ruru

– these are the most important things director of boarding Kyleigh Lyth encourages in the Rangi Ruru Boarding House.

‘‘Our girls learn so much. Cooperation, respecting one another, responsibility, selfmanagement skills and most importantly having a bit of fun in a safe, stable and supportive environment. Our girls make friends for life and I love being a part of that.’’

The feedback the school constantly hears from parents and girls is that they feel very much at home at Rangi; the grounds are green and open, the common spaces are bright and relaxing, the classes sizes are small but fun and challenging, and the choices are many and varied.

‘‘It’s a holistic approach we take across the whole of Rangi Ruru,’’ Kyleigh says. ‘‘We are very proud of our family environment in the boarding house and how happy our girls are.’’

Boarding at Rangi Ruru enables girls to pursue academic, sporting and cultural interests that are not always available at smaller or rural schools.

Director of boarding Ms Kyleigh Lyth and Principal Dr Hastie will be in Wanaka for the Wanaka A&P Show on March 8 and 9 to meet interested families. The school also has a specific Boarders Open Evening on Friday, March 22.
