Organ blocked

-

How disappointing that our first view of the beautifully restored fac¸ ade of the Town Hall organ should be obscured by banks of black speaker boxes and steel gantries suspended from the flying saucer. Surely all this untidy clutter could be hoisted out of sight? It is more suited to a sports stadium than a world class concert hall. I understood the flying saucer itself could be raised, as appeared in earlier photos of the restored Town Hall.

If it ruins the portfolio of landlords in that market for capital gains, then I’m all for it. With them out of the real estate market, there will be more properties selling, and at less inflated prices, to the young who otherwise would have to go on renting.

And those still letting properties, doing so for their rental value rather than capital gain. And who says there will be no capital gain after tax? Just less.

Graham Densem, Upper Riccarton striking pupils and the Greens’ attempt to bring down the MMP margin to 4 per cent to get into power. It will be interesting to see what other attempts he makes to salvage the sinking ship that is NZ First.
