Who else goes with Jackson?

-

In light of the revisionist outrage that’s currently metaphorically burning all of Michael Jackson’s records, may I suggest we’ll have to remove a substantial number of prominent artists from our future purview if moral rectictitude (as decided in the ineffably wise Internet Court of Public Judgment) is the sole criterion for further consumption.

Goodbye Bayreuth; Richard Wagner’s anti-semitic and racist drivel must go. Only Neil is a suitable Wagner for Kiwis of Rectitude.

Tear up your Picassos, Gauguins, Jackson Pollocks and Andy Warhols. Sexually exploitative artists unwelcome here.

Any Harvey Weinsteinassisted film? Up in flames. Dustin Hoffman and Woody Allen too. Fatty Arbuckle. Errol Flynn. Charlie Chaplin.

And let’s burn up those books on politicians too: Gandhi, Edward Heath. George Washington and Ben Franklin, well-known slave owners. Bill Clinton ... ahem.

Now I think of it, the regimes of Adolf Hitler and South African apartheid acted like that too, didn’t they?

Don Rae, Governors Bay

Let’s send a message to the ECan councillors who not only refuse to listen to our concerns but have the absolute gall to tell us that we are misinformed and don’t understand. I, for one, will be giving them some “understanding” this October. Larry Beck, Christchurch Central
