Elton wants to be Jacinda

-

If Sir Elton John aka the Rocketman could be any woman alive, he’d be Jacinda Ardern.

John’s autobiographer has published an all A-lister Q&A ahead of the book’s global release next week.

The Guardian reporter spent three and half years chronicling John’s life and gave music industry peers the floor to ask anything they’d ever wanted to know about his career, personal life, and taste — no subject off limits.

John is ‘‘charmingly, fan-ishly delighted that one [of the questions] is from Bob Dylan,’’ writes the autobiographer. Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Lenny Kravitz and Donatella Versace also contributed questions.

Model-actor Cara Delevingne asked, ‘‘If you could be one woman alive and one woman from the past, who would you be?’’

John answered: ‘‘It’s hard to pick someone from today, because there are so many candidates, but I think I’d choose Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister of New Zealand. She’s one of the few politicians that I respect and love – she’s got dignity and she’s humane. I think she’s doing a brilliant job.’’

John isn’t the first celebrity to praise the prime minister. Ardern attracted admiration from the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Russell Crowe for her response to the Christchurch mosque attacks.

A spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s office said they understood she was very flattered and humbled by the answer. No word on whether Ardern, for her part, would like to be Sir Elton John.

From the past, John said he would have loved to be Elizabeth Taylor.

The autobiography Me follows the ubersuccessful musical biopic Rocketman, which grossed nearly $200 million at the box office.
