Reynolds: Drug test returned false positive

-

Josh Reynolds says he returned a ‘‘false positive’’ to a road-side drug test early yesterday as he drove home from Bankstown Airport following the Wests Tigers’ loss to the Gold Coast.

NSW Police confirmed a 31-year-old was pulled over in his Mercedes on President Avenue in Caringbah about 1.30am, when it was discovered the driver had an expired licence.

Reynolds was taken to Sutherland Police Station, where he provided an oral fluid test. He is now awaiting those results.

The playmaker told Tigers officials he was innocent and took to social media to set the record straight.

The Sydney Morning Herald can reveal Reynolds was in good spirits on the flight home from Brisbane despite the shock loss. There was no alcohol consumed on the flight, which had to be diverted to Sydney because of poor weather.

The players caught a bus back to Bankstown before going their separate ways.

The Tigers told the NRL Integrity Unit about the matter. Reynolds has not been stood down from training or playing.

Meanwhile, Paul McGregor was in a pressure cooker before the game but the heat was cranked up again after St George Illawarra’s 22-2 loss to lowly Canterbury Bulldogs.

After just two wins from their past 14 games, time is running out for the Dragons’ coach to save his job as they lumber through their worst season start since 2005.

And after the Bulldogs scored their first win of the season last night at Bankwest Stadium, the Dragons sit last on the ladder as the only team not to taste victory yet in 2020.
