Medbury Scholarships support boys’ future endeavours and potential
Registrations are now open for the 2022 Academic, Music and Boarding Scholarships at Medbury School, with the School’s scholarship examinations and music auditions to be held on Thursday 27 May.
Located in Fendalton in Christchurch, Medbury School is the only independent boys’ school on the South Island, offering an education for both dayboys and boarders from Years 1 to 8.
Medbury’s vision is to realise every boy’s potential through its personalised learning programmes, its world class delivery of relevant, meaningful and challenging curriculum and its traditional Christian values.
Whilst the School places a high value on Literacy and Numeracy, it also recognises that every boy is unique, with special talents and abilities, and a wide range of learning styles. Medbury also aims to help boys develop as confident individuals, focusing on a range of personal attributes, such as organisation, independence, relationships with others, and resilience.
Medbury’s partnership with Swinburne University of Technology is maturing to assist boys in understanding and recognising emotional intelligence (EI), via the Aristotle-EI programme.
At Medbury, the focus is on the ‘whole boy’, and small class sizes enable teachers to deliver a personalised learning programme, ensuring that each boy has the support, extension and encouragement he needs to discover and develop his particular strengths.
The School’s learning programmes are all focused on a boy’s way of learning, providing students with a structured environment, complemented by competition, boundaries, an opportunity to succeed and the Medbury values of manners and respect.
Medbury has adapted the NZ curriculum to meet the learning needs of boys, using a combination of traditional teaching methods and technology.
When a boy leaves Medbury he does so with an exploring and inquiring mind.
He will feel confident, have high self-esteem and have an education equipping him for life in the 21st Century.
