New-build units for sale or lease in Wanaka’s Northlake

- Michelle Vollemaere

A suite of five office and retail premises under construction within a master-planned residential suburban community in Wanaka is on the market for sale or lease.

The commercial premises within the Northlake Commercial Centre at 5 Northlake Drive, adjacent to the established Northlake Village Centre, which already supports the fastgrowing master-planned residential suburb of Northlake, 3 kilometres from the town’s central business district.

Construction of Northlake Commercial Centre began earlier this year, with completion scheduled for mid-2023.

The industrial-style, street-level units will range in size from 48 square metres through to 558sqm, allowing for occupancy by a diversity of business tenancies.

Each unit will have access to shared ground floor bathroom amenities and will be allocated a space within the site’s central car park.

Mat Andrews and Scott McGoun of Bayleys Wanaka said the increasing commercial footprint and space of the Northlake Commercial Centre and its neighbouring Northlake Village Centre reflected the muchneeded growth in commercial and residential property in the area over the past decade.

Andrews said the Northlake Commercial Centre portfolio could be viewed as an opportunity for either owner-occupiers, or as newbuild investment opportunities to tenant.

‘‘The commercial leases within the original Northlake Village Centre were quickly snapped up when the property was first brought to the market several years ago, and it is fully tenanted now,’’ Andrews said.

‘‘In response to this obvious demand for new commercial space, and factoring in future growth for the region, Northlake Commercial Centre is being established, and we expect the complex to be fully tenanted when it officially opens in the middle of next year.’’

McGoun said that the building quality of Northlake Commercial Centre was designed to attract highend business clientele looking for a presence in a relatively affluent surrounding suburb set to sustain more than 1600 new dwellings when fully developed.

‘‘The offices within this portfolio are exactly what the local business market has been asking for since Northlake Village Centre proved so successful,’’ he said.

‘‘Northlake Commercial Centre, as was its sister complex the Northlake Village Centre, is very much at the bow-wave of Wanaka’s commercial expansion away from the town centre.’’
