Lazarus beaten

-

Lennytheshark has chomped his way through the All Stars trio to win the Miracle Mile at Menangle on Saturday night. The All Stars stable of Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen won the first three Group I races on the programme, but when it came to the big one, they were circled by a tough and courageous Lennytheshark. The David Aiken-trained Lennytheshark, who went down in a photo finish to Have Faith In Me in the 2016 version of the Miracle Mile, was not to be denied in 2017 and won the A$750,000 race by half a head. The 50th running of the iconic race, provided Aiken and leading Australian reinsman Chris Alford with their first victory in the race. Without winning the Miracle Mile, the training effort of Purdon and Rasmussen was quite exceptional. Not only was it a record to have three runners in the race from one stable – Smolda, Lazarus and Our Waikiki Beach filled places two, three and four..
