- JERRIE VALLI

The Gilmour Rosebowl is finally changing hands after three years – heading from Waikaka to Drummond after the challengers had a 3-2 win.

Waikaka has had a strong defence of the prestigious trophy, after winning it from Queens Park in August 2014.

The club has enjoyed its reign, but congratulated Drummond on a good win.

Results were (Waikaka names first): Dianne Cleland beat Beth Lindsay 2up, Monica Hansen lost to Mary Ann Lindsay 2/1, Deryn Cullen lost to Susan Racz 1up, Sue Stewart lost to Barbara Kincaid 3/1 and Kate Cross beat Darlene Kincaid 4/2.

Drummond’s first challenge will be from Dipton next month. ** Entries are open for the popular Te Anau Fiordland Golf Classic, which will be played from July 28 to 30.

The tournament traditionally has no trouble attracting a full field, so get your entries in as soon as you can. They are open online on the Te Anau Golf Club website. ** Winton Golf Club’s Par-3 tournament will tee off on Sunday 18 June – the shortest course on the shortest day of the year.
