Heartbreak for Kiwi skier
Kiwi skier Finn Bilous has narrowly missed out on a place in the slopestyle final at the Winter Olympics.
The 18-year-old produced a solid second run of 85.00 during qualifying at Phoenix Park in PyeongChang yesterday, but it wasn’t enough as Canadian Alex Beaulieu-Marchand came down after him and scored a 94.20.
That shunted Bilous into 13th, with only the top 12 progressing to the final. It was a solid return for the Wanaka local after his first run of 24.80 had him well down the standings.
Fellow Kiwi Jackson Wells struggled through his two qualifying runs, scoring 42.00 and 52.80 to finish 25th.
Meanwhile, in the men’s giant slalom, New Zealanders Adam Barwood and Willis Feasey were 40th and 42nd respectively after the first of two runs.
