Motor park in city would fill a need

-

I read recently that the NZ Motor Caravan Association had contacted the Invercargill City Council with regard to leasing land for a motor park for its members.

The NZMCA has already either bought or leased land in many cities and towns throughout New Zealand.

This has included landscaping the area, the installation of both sewage and water connection facilities for its members.

Should the lease be granted for a short-stay park, this in turn would allow many of the association’s 50,000-plus membership to be able to visit and stay in Invercargill.

This will bring much needed revenue to our shops, garages, cafes, restaurants right across Invercargill, including our neighbouring towns.

It is important not to lose sight that the NZMCA is made up of New Zealand vanners who belong to a responsible organisation These parks cater only for correctly certified selfcontained caravan and motor homes.

With the tourism boom, many commercial camping grounds in cities are becoming quite out of reach to stay over for many of its members, let alone those retired members or those with families.

This park, if it should go ahead, would allow a more affordable option to its New Zealand citizens.

Especially for those travellers on extended holidays. Murray Gilmour
