What she wore Emma Roberts

Take a leaf from the young star’s style book and build your outfit from your favourite top out.

Actress Emma Roberts knows a good capsule basic when she has one, and has come up with two quite different but very chic looks using a simple black turtleneck top.

Building on the top with a white wrap midi skirt, sky high suede heels and a sleek box clutch, Roberts has herself a monochrome evening look that looks not only comfortable but also sophisticated.

An orangey-red matte lipstick lightly pressed on lips and some simple gold drop earrings finish the look.

Lovers of the little details like myself will also note the not-quite-black nail polish carried through both looks. Whether you choose a shade with a hint of red, brown or purple, it’s a nice way to add edge without erring on the wrong side of goth.

I’m really into the second look – cool, bold and striking but again still quite sophisticated.

Wide-leg pants of all kinds are making a huge comeback internationally right now, whether you want to go “statement” with a check or other print, a la Emma, or opt for a single colour.

If you need a little leg-lengthening confidence, pair them with a block heeled boot, or match them with allwhite sneakers for a more casual take.

Leopard-print is another trend having a major renaissance right now, and a lightweight coat is a great way to wear it in the between seasons.

A swipe of gorgeous raisiny lipstick and a bit of attention to the brows ensure a star-worthy polished finish.
