Luke wants to stay

-

Warriors CEO Cameron George says the Dally M awards was a night all fans of the club can celebrate, while hinting news of contracts for Issac Luke and Jazz Tevaga is imminent.

George was at the celebrations in Sydney on Wednesday night, where Roger Tuivasa-Sheck picked up the NRL’s highest honour.

Luke and Tevaga are both off contract, and no doubt there may have been some talk around the Warriors table about their futures.

George revealed Tevaga is about to sign a new contract, which is believed to be for two years, while an announcement is likely to be made about Luke by the weekend.

‘‘We’ll have some news over the next couple of days on both players,’’ George said.

‘‘I’m pretty sure Jazz has agreed to terms – we’re just finalising the paperwork around that now – and with Issac, we should have some news over the next couple of days around what’s going to happen in terms of his future.’’

Luke was interviewed at the awards and said he wanted to remain with the Warriors.

‘‘We want to stay in New Zealand as a family, my wife and the kids,’’ Luke said.

‘‘It’s a pretty important couple weeks coming up, we’ll see how that goes over the next couple of days.

‘‘My manager is doing everything he can to get a really good contract. In saying that, I am happy where I am and obviously I want to stay.’’
