Driver trapped after power lines fall on car

A driver was trapped in their car after they crashed on State Highway 6 near Benmore, between Winton and Lumsden, causing live power lines to land on the vehicle. A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the driver was kept in the car until the power was disconnected. The single-car crash happened at 12.20pm. A police media spokeswoman said the driver was taken to hospital with moderate injuries. Power was cut to about 35 houses after the crash.
