Gavet leaving Warriors

Warriors prop James Gavet is expecting to leave the Warriors and sign a two-year contract with the Newcastle Knights. Gavet was under contract for next season and would have been paid a significant amount of money. However, it appears the Warriors have agreed to release him from his deal with them, so he can take up a longer term offer at the Knights. Knights coach Nathan Brown sees Gavet as an important part of the team from next season and they beat out the Cowboys to sign him, with Cowboys coach Paul Green also keen on bringing him to North Queensland.
