Hokonui Moonshiners’ Festival
Save the date! The 2019 Hokonui Moonshiner’s Festival is back on Saturday, February 16.
Don’t miss Gore’s main event of the Summer.
Join the Hokonui Moonshiners’ Festival Trust to celebrate a unique Southland history and become part of the moonshine legend!
This music and food festival highlights the time-honoured traditions of early Highland Scottish settlers - flaunting Southland’s early prohibition laws and making illicit whisky in the Hokonui Hills. Expect a great line-up of bands on two stages, a return to heritage themed food, craft beers, and of course, old Hokonui Moonshine.
Live entertainment, great food, craft beer & cider, Central Otago wines and Old Hokonui Whiskey.
The festivities will continue rain or shine. This is a licensed event - no byo food or drink.
An unmissable line-up of music features Aussie band Dog Trumpet, plus Kiwi acts Killergrams, Bulletproof Convertible, Valley Blue Grass and Southerners Lady Friday, Lauchie Hayes and Jenny Mitchell. Southern restauranteurs and purveyors of fine cuisine will once again bring their unique flavour to the festival with a variety of themed taste sensations. Bring a hearty appetite and graze all day!
What can I bring?
As this is an outdoor event, seating and tables will be on the grass/sealed areas in front of the stage, but you’re welcome to bring your own picnic blankets and chairs.
You may wish to bring sun umbrellas for use at the tables.
Shows will go ahead rain or shine (pending exceptional circumstances) – so bring sunscreen or wet weather gear as conditions permit. A range of beverages and food will be available for purchase on site.
While there will be EFTPOS available, it’s advisable to bring cash on the day.
