Staying mobile over the holiday season

-

A successful locally owned and operated business, Southern Mobility has been servicing the mobility needs of Southlanders for the past 20 years. Warren and Sonya hve owned this business for the last five years.

The family-run business has a focus on people and a providing a service that is second-to-none.

Located in Spey Street, Invercargill, Southern Mobility has an expansive showroom for customers to browse and their experienced team are on hand to help with all inquiries.

They are the only Enable and ACC sub-contractor available in the region, with their catchment covering Gore to Arrowtown and back down to Stewart Island. With a significant portion of Southern Mobility’s client base situated within Invercargill, Sonya trialled a popup shop in Gore this year.

She leased a function space at the Gore RSA in mid-September, and created a duplicate of the Invercargill store, with displays, information and a wide range of equipment for sale.

The venture proved very successful. ‘‘We had a great response to the pop-up shop, with a good number of inquiries throughout the week,’’ Sonya says.

‘‘The centre was lovely, and I appreciated the RSA’s support. We will be running more pop-ups there in the future as this venue has a perfect space for all the larger mobility items.

‘‘We expect the pop-up shop to be the first of many throughout the region, as we are very keen to increase the face of Southern Mobility in other areas.’’

With independence a must in all our lives, Sonya says it is also important at this time of the year to consider yours or perhaps your holiday guests mobility requirements over the festive season.

Perhaps you are heading out of town and require equipment, or you have guests arriving that have limited mobility. Sonya and the team has a wide range of hire equipment that is certain to help simplify any issues, to ensure you get to enjoy quality time with family and friends.

‘‘We have on the team, two full time users of wheelchairs, so they certainly have a hive of knowledge in living with equipment,’’ she says.

‘‘Come and see us, and meet the team from Southern Mobility who are all very proud to carry out the work we do.’’

Open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm and Saturday’s when required, if Southern Mobility don’t have what you need on-site, they have an extensive list of suppliers that they can source equipment from.
