Lime Scooters spotted

-

After being launched in Dunedin early last month, it was inevitable that Lime Scooters would be found far further afield. After one was spotted in Balclutha, 80km south of the city a fortnight ago, Gore residents were spotted on Limes near the town’s Mataura River bridge yesterday morning. A widely circulated Snapchat image shows the scooters parked up in east Gore, with the famous Sergeant Dan’s Stockfoods building in the distance, while another shows them awaiting new riders on the banks of the Mataura River. It is not yet known how the scooters got to Gore – it is a journey of more than 150km from Dunedin – but they’ve been spotted in Main St outside the town’s Night’n Day dairy, parked up at the public toilets opposite KFC and on Broughton St – the town’s steepest street. The Californian-based company’s e-scooters first hit New Zealand pavements in Auckland and Christchurch in October, followed by Upper and Lower Hutt last month. Lime had announced plans to launch the scooters in Queenstown, but had not announced any plans to bring the scooters to Gore.
